Anxiety Treatment
Are you or is someone you love experiencing intense worry, restlessness, or feeling of impending doom? You might be experiencing anxiety. At its essence, anxiety is an emotional response to perceived threats or danger, resulting in feelings of fear or panic.
Psyhance provides unique integrative psychiatric services, aiming at treating anxiety conditions at their root cause.
Symptoms of Anxiety
Anxiety is often described as a feeling of restlessness and worry. While these symptoms are present, anxiety manifests itself as many signs and symptoms including sweating, restlessness, and much more. It may have both physical, mental, and social effects on a person.
Anxiety can manifest itself in a number of different ways physically. Common symptoms include:
- Increased heart rate and breathing
- Sweating
- Tremors or shaking
- Headaches
- Muscle tension
- Chest pain
- Nausea and/or stomachaches
While some people may experience intense heart beats (cardiology-related issues), others may feel like their stomach is acting wild (gastrointestinal problems). These physical symptoms can lead to fatigue as well as difficulty sleeping due to the constant state of arousal caused by anxious thoughts. This creates a vicious cycle in which physical exhaustion leads to more anxious thoughts, which then leads to more physical exhaustion.
Anxiety has a big impact on social life, as well. People with anxiety often feel overwhelmed in social settings due to the fear of being judged by others or engaging in conversations that could lead to embarrassment or failure. They may also find it difficult to express their true feelings and opinions due to fear of being judged negatively by others.
Furthermore, they may avoid activities such as get togethers or going out with friends due to the fear that something bad will happen while they are out. All of these things can contribute to feelings of loneliness and isolation, which further exacerbate anxious thoughts.
Types of Anxiety Disorder
Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) is characterized by persistent and excessive worry about everyday activities and events. People with GAD often experience difficulty sleeping, restlessness, fatigue, irritability, and difficulty concentrating due to their constant worrying. The causes of GAD are not fully understood, but it's believed to be related to both genetic factors and environmental stressors. At Psyhance, we focus on the root cause of GAD and use advanced medical tools to treat you in the best way possible.
Panic disorder is a type of anxiety disorder characterized by recurrent and unexpected panic attacks. Panic attacks are sudden episodes of intense fear or apprehension that can include physical symptoms such as trembling, sweating, and racing heart rate.
People with panic disorder may also have anticipatory anxiety—fear of having another panic attack—as well as agoraphobia—fear of being in places where they may have no quick escape or access to help if they have a panic attack.
At Psyhance, we focus on the root cause of panic disorder and treat it accordingly and comprehensively.
Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a type of anxiety disorder characterized by extreme fear or discomfort in social situations, such as public speaking or interacting with strangers. People with SAD often experience intense physical symptoms such as nausea and sweating when in social situations. However, unlike other types of anxiety conditions, people with SAD do not typically experience anticipatory fear before the event.
The exact cause of SAD is unknown, but many believe it has both biological and environmental components, such as genetics, brain chemistry, and/or traumatic events during childhood. For instance, recent research is showing that dietary modifications and targeting nutritional deficiencies may lead to improvement in anxiety and SAD. Therefore, at Psyhance, we focus on the root cause of SAD and treat it using our skill and expertise in an all-round way.
Obsessive-compulsive disorder, better known as OCD, is an anxiety disorder that affects over 2 million people in the United States alone. It is characterized by persistent intrusive thoughts, unwanted images, and recurring behavior patterns that can be difficult to control.
